Thyme Out @ Mayang Oasis & Pastel @ Setiawangsa

Tex-Mex mania is spicing up this small corner of Petaling Jaya, thanks to a bunch of fajita-loving friends who've started a stall this month at the Mayang Oasis food court, a sheltered location to complement their often rain-disrupted food truck in Subang.

From tortilla wraps to quesadillas, Thyme Out serves the ideal sort of guilty pleasures for night-time crowds who throng this venue (also known as PJ Old Trafford) to catch football match screenings.

Soft tacos stuffed with pulled lamb, cheese, pineapple salsa, lime & sauce cost RM9 apiece (chicken's even cheaper at RM6).

Basic nachos start from RM7, topped with tomato salsa, jalapeno mayo & lettuce. Add another RM4 to beef up the basket.

Complimentary disposable gloves are available to help keep fingers free of saucy stains. Thyme Out's food is tasty enough, assembled to order & served satisfyingly hot; no complaints whatsoever.

Bonus stop for halal-assured Tex-Mex fare: Pastel, a little cafe in a Setiawangsa shop-house.

Tacos are also a speciality at Pastel, filled with lamb or beef for RM18 per plate of two.

'Texas Burger' with hand-pressed beef patty (RM16); the tacos & burgers come with fries. Perhaps not memorable enough to specifically travel to Setiawangsa for, but probably worthwhile for folks who live or work here.
